Saplings' programs are run out of various Everett Parks. To protect our little explorers, we will give our specific location to those who apply for enrollment.
We accept students ages 3-8 years old. We do have some flexibility with our age range so please contact us if you think our program would be a good fit for your child.
Yes. We require all of our students to be fully potty trained before participating in our program. Because our classroom is the great outdoors, we don't have the setup for diapering or potty training on-site. Being fully potty trained helps your child participate confidently in all of our adventures. The occasional accident is to be expected and is totally fine!
Students at Saplings are not separated by age. There is so much value in having a mixed-age group setting. Older students are able to develop their leadership and nurturing skills by being with younger children. Younger children benefit through peer learning and watching their older classmates and view them as peer mentors and inspire older students to play in more imaginative ways.
Rain is to be expected here in the Pacific Northwest and at Saplings we don't shy away from it, we just prepare for it! We believe that with the proper gear, learning and fun can still happen even with a little precipitation and that adjusting to different types of weather develops highly adaptable kids. You can check out our Gear Guide here as well as in our Family Handbook which you will receive upon enrollment!
Although rare, there are some occasions when weather conditions are not safe for our little learners. Saplings will be closed for high winds, thunder and lightning storms, and unsafe air quality. Saplings will follow Everett and Mukilteo Public Schools for snow closures. More information regarding inclement weather can be found in our Family Handbook.

Yes! Children are incredibly capable language learners, and our play-based, nature-immersive program offers a rich environment for communication, movement, and social connection — all of which support language development. Our teachers use visual cues, gestures, repetition, and modeling to help all children feel understood and included, regardless of their first language.
Yes! Our program offers a very flexible schedule making it ideal for homeschoolers! Join us one to four mornings a week for nature study and fun! Our school year program is the perfect complement to your child's studies at home!
